About a week before Susan Boyle erupted into our collective social conscious by way of the mainstream media, I watched her performance on youtube. I had a facebook account back when it was only for university students. I’ve been following people on twitter long enough to get how it works. I’ve even explained what it is to the non-tech oriented types in my life (and even managed to keep a straight face when my mother asked “so, can I twitter myself?”).
You see, I like to know about new things before they’re new.
Since this is my personal blog, I thought I’d share with you some new things that I really like.
For example:
Hot cuppa PG Tips +
a splash of milk +
a spoonful and a half of raw sugar = Hot beverage heaven. Ok, this isn’t new, but it’s a rainy afternoon and I’m really appreciating my tea today.

The office box, as opposed to the home box.

Big Furniture
Like: When I was a little girl, there was a pretentious antique dealer in my hometown that would display their goods on the grassy lawn in front of their shop. One summer they had an enormous upholstered wooden chair that, to my young eyes, was simply magnificent. It was like a scene from Alice in Wonderland come to life. Although it cost more than my allowance, I would make my parents take me to visit it every weekend until it sold. Thus began my affinity for oversized and strange furniture. I’ve seen various incarnations of big and strange furniture, but never quite as amazing as the things on display at the annual Salone del Mobili in Milan. Alice Wang’s debut of her Chairs for the Dysfunctional at this month’s salone looks amazing. Wish I was there…

Like: Finding something after losing it. This happened to me recently. A few years ago, I had a ring custom made that I immediately lost. I found it a couple of weeks ago in a pocket of my overnight bag that I never knew existed. Makes me wonder how many secrets are hiding in pockets that I don’t know about.

On May 17 I had the pleasure of attending my Sister’s college graduation, along with her twenty something daughters. I wore the storm cloud colored structured contour line dress, in organic cotton twill. I loved the comfortable fit and I didn’t feel disheveled after the 4 hour drive! I recommend this dress to anyone who wants to feel good in what they wear. I am also impressed that the apparel brand is designed with the environment in mind. I am proud to call this young woman, my daughter. Irene
Meghan,
Love your blog. Found it through the Tim Ferris blog. Just thought I’d browse and see what you have going on. I’m a bit of a fashion idiot but I love creativity and design. Not sure what that says about me! Anyway keep up the good work. And as an effort to add value to you for the time I’ve taken up by writing this, here’s something that’s been a great source of creative benefit to me: Ignore Everybody by Hugh MacLeod. Funny. Pointed. Seems to make a lot of sense.
Cheers!
Eric
